Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear out of place, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the secret base, assaulting the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the group access places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Fans can expect discovering which characters will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
